Good Starter Record Player, 2010-09-04
By wwelty
I am just getting into buying/listening to vinyl, and this seems like a good starter record player. The sound quality is fairly good, considering the price, and the built in speakers are very convenient while providing you the option of upgrading to better aftermarket speakers. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

jensen jta 220, 2010-08-25
By dubya 93
please forgive my spelling,
i love this product. the speakers built into the unit are not very good, but with some garage sale speakers or some good headphones the listening expirence is wonderful. i have my unit set up in the basement and the radio still works without static. the turntable is small but i notice no faults with it it still handels 12 inch discs wonderfully. the jta220 came with a form to order more needels for the player at a cost of $5 apiece but mine has yet to wear out after a few months. this product is great for people who want to play their old vinyl without a large setup or a large budget. it is pretty basic as far as machenery goes nothing is automatic, the stylis has to be moved by hand and the table doesnt stop at the end of the record. for my money i see it as a great buy and would recoment this product to anyone who likes to listen to music the way it was intinded to be heard.

Works Great, 2010-08-22
By Mike gurczak
I bought it for my mom's birthday. It works great, the sound is clear, at least as far as records go, and it's not too big and bulky.

It's a toy!!!, 2010-08-22
By ed600
It's junk.. awful sound quality listening though either internal speakers or though headphone jack.
The platter is not fully flat causing records to wobble up and down while spinning. Bought the recommended 78 needle ($30 bucks for that extra).. 78's sound better on this unit (with the 78 needle) because they are not usually high fidelity and were recorded with primitive equipment compared to more modern 33 rpm stereo records.. even so the the sound quality is so cheap sounding it certainly is not a unit I would recommend to transfer Vinyl to digital or attempt to make mp3's from. Very unbalanced sound.. with very little if any bottom or low mid-range frequencies. The tone arm is heavy with no weight adjustment.. so if playing 33 or 45 rpm records it will very likely ruin the quality and fidelity and long life vinyl can have.
You almost have to turn the volume knob all the way up to get some decent volume level.
Took a look inside... the thing is built also like a toy....
Also this unit does require purchasing a special needle for 78 records else you will quickly ruin the standard needle and the 78 records.. plus the 78 needle is required to properly fit the wider grooves to obtain fuller sound.. which this unit is incapable of anyway. All the positive reviews led me to buy this junk.. but if you want just a normal balanced decent sound from your records.. buy a real regular turntable that has anti- skating and tone arm weight control.. This unit is fine for a 5 year old.
Lousy sound quality, cheap is cheap.. and this unit is no exception.
Save your money or let the kids use it to play with and break it!!!

JENSEN...good brand, good machine, 2010-08-21
By Noel
This little guy is just what I was looking for. VERY happy with it. Good sound, clever and fresh way the lid was designed to close with record protruding, and most of all it's SIMPLE and a simple operation. If you are less than 40 years old it's unlikely this will do much for you (CDs will not play on this). But for me and my cronies we crank it up and do some serious 12 ounce curls listening to everying from the 50s to Inna-Godda-Divida (Iron Butterfly). Great little turntable. The only uh oh is the stylus arm does not return home when it reaches the end. No big deal.
